Abstract

By means of encapsulated sensors, material failure, for example, can be detected in good time and thus prevented. Furthermore, data such as the cooling behaviour of a cast component can be determined during the production process.

background

At present, it is not possible to cast sensors or other electrical components into metallic materials without thick thermal insulation layers.

Innovation / Solution

The invention concerns a process with which electrical components, e.g. sensors, can be cast into components in order to measure information directly in the component. According to the invention, the sensor is surrounded by a material that is the same as the casting material.

Benefits

Monitoring of components Measurement within components Recording of the stress of e.g. chassis and engine components Integrated electrical cables

fields of application

Acquisition of measured variables in buildings, machines, plants or devices. Examples of applications are steering knuckles of motor vehicles, engine blocks of combustion engines, electrical cables and bridges.
