background

Until now, mainly AC systems in high-voltage transmission have been used in Europe. However, DC systems are suitable for higher outputs with the same track width, for longer distances and for longer cable connections.

Innovation / Solution

The present invention relates to a DC high voltage circuit breaker. The circuit breaker has two main selectors circuit breaker via two main electrodes, to each of which one pole of the high voltage to be switched can be connected. During the switching operation, one of the main electrodes goes through a switching path. The circuit breaker is characterized in that additional sub-electrodes are provided, which protrude in the vicinity of the switching path. Due to the design and arrangement of the auxiliary electrodes arcing may occur during the switching process. As a result, the arcs can go out as early as possible during the switching process. In addition, there is a vacuum inside the circuit breaker. Fig. 1 shows a symbolic representation of the circuit breaker.

Benefits

Environmentally friendly by avoiding greenhouse gases by using vacuum Effective extinguishing of the arc

fields of application

The invention serves to construct a disconnector in the field of high voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission.
