Abstract

The invention concerns process monitoring in manufacturing.

background

In processes such as laser cutting, for example, tilted components can cause collisions with a processing instrument. Laser triangulation can be used to detect obstacles.
Process light prevents the reliable detection of laser lines and thus the detection of obstacles.

Innovation / Solution

Process light is to be separated from interfering light by means of two cameras. One laser line remains as the differential image. The congruent arrangement of the cameras enables very fast image processing. The use of a notch filter in the range of the measuring laser wavelength also allows the filtering of very bright process light. Fig. 1 shows a laboratory setup.

Benefits

Measurement under process light becomes possible More complex patterns can be recognized besides lines Advantageously applicable for laser beam cutting
