Abstract

The invention describes a tire manufacturing process compatible solution for the realization of a vertical contacting of sensors integrated in tires.

Fig. 1: Contacting concept

background

The aim of tire manufacturers is to integrate sensors into the tire during the tire manufacturing process. The integration of a metrological sensor into a tire is described in the German patent application DE 10 2016 123 795 A1 and the international patent application WO 2018/104047 A1.

Motivation

So far, sensor contact in the vertical direction has not been possible in a tire.

Innovation / Solution

According to the invention, the rubber layer adjacent to the sensor arrangement is perforated and filled with conductive rubber at the perforations. The layers are then placed on top of each other and the tire is vulcanized. The new method makes it possible to compare different measurement parameters in a single control unit. This can result in an "intelligent" tire that carries its own tire pressure control system.

Benefits

Tire with integrated tire pressure control system Increased safety can be guaranteed at higher speeds Optimization of the adhesion/rolling friction ratio Optimization of fuel consumption in the passenger car automotive industry

fields of application

The field of application of the invention lies in electromobility and in the manufacture of tires and belts.
